Q: Why haven't we heard about human cloning?
A: Well, cloning a human is risky and can ruin someones life. No scientist with a good reputation(It would ruin a scientists reputation if he or she has tried to attempt this, if they did, it would ruin their reputation) has attempted to clone a live human being, yet. In that case, lots of different scientists are now trying to accomplish this. Although, none have succeeded.
Q: Can clones occur naturally?
A: Yes, as seen in the video on the cloning page (cloning 101), human twin (triplets, quadruplets etc.) are actually clones of each other, and some plants can be cloned by simply re-planting its leaves or roots.
Q: Can you clone plants?
Yes, you can.(watch the video and you can learn how!) The process is pretty simple. They send a small shoot-like structure, called a runner, along the soil. The runner grows into a new different plant that is genetically identical to the original plant. In other words, it is a clone. People can clone plants by simply taking a cutting of the plant such as a twig or stem and planting it. This is called vegetative propagation.
Q: Are clones exactly the same?
A: Physically yes, mentally no. Although a clone may have the same looks and genes its personality and emotions can be completely different; in December 2001, scientists at Texas A&M University created the first cloned cat, CC (CopyCat). Even though CC is an exact copy of his host, they have different personalities; i.e. CC is shy and timid, his host on the other hand is playful and curious.
